The Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) is likely to sign JV agreements with NHPC for setting up two supercritical thermal power stations of 2X 660 MW each in the state.
These power stations are likely to come up at Kajra and Pirpainti, respectively. The BSEB will hold a 51 per cent majority in the JVs to make it a deemed state government undertaking. However, NHPC will manage the company. While the joint venture will be responsible for securing fuel supply for the projects, the state government is trying hard to secure captive assets for the project.
