ONGC is planning to ramp up the natural gas production to meet the growing energy deficit in India.
The company will raise the capacity over 7.22 million standard cubic mtrs per day (mmscmd) by 2014. Of which in FY13 it will raise by 1.45 mmscmd and the remaining 5.77 mmscmd will be raised in FY 14. Currently, ONGC produces about 55 mmscmd of gas.
In FY13 it will produce 0.4 mmscmd from North Tapti field off the west coast and the another 1.05 mmscmd from G-1 and GS-15 fields in Bay of Bengal. In FY14 Western offshore B-Series field will provide 1.56 mmscmd at Uran in Maharashtra, 0.03 mmscmd from BHE & BH-35 fields, 1.68 mmscmd from W-Series fields off the west coast at Hazira in Gujarat, 1.38 mmscmd from B-193 Cluster, 0.12 mmscmd from North Tapti fields in Cambay basin, about 0.75 mmscmd from SB14 and G-1 and GS-15 fields in Krishna Godavari basin are expected to produce 0.25 mmscmd increase in output.
