The government of Odisha is all set to develop a solar power plant near Chhatrapur, Ganjam.
The project, with one MW capacity, will come up over 5.5 acre, at a cost of Rs 13 crore. The district administration will soon hand over the land to Odisha Power Transmission Corporation (OPTCL), the implementing agency of the unit. The tender for setting up the project will soon be floated.
The proposed solar plant is part of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Rs 1,000 crore plan to build 'disaster resilient power strengthening system' in the cyclone-prone towns of Berhampur, Chhatrapur, and Gopapur, in Ganjam district, on an experimental basis.
