Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will lay the foundation stone for the multi-product special economic zone (SEZ) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Sheva, in Navi Mumbai, on 16 August.
The port-based SEZ will be developed over 277 ha of land with a total public and private investment of Rs 4,000 crore.
The project will be developed through a JNPT-Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode. The SEZ is likely to be completed in three years.
The SEZ will develop a free trade warehousing zone, catering to various sectors including —electronics and hardware, non-conventional energy, IT, healthcare, apparel and textiles.
