The government of Karnataka is planning to construct a peripheral ring road as part of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor project.
The proposed 100 km road project will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,500 crore to Rs 4,000 crore. The project is expected to boost commerce between South India and East Asia through quicker movement of goods to Chennai and Ennore Ports.
Recently, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) submitted its first interim report for the master plan for Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. The report covers the 560 km corridor between Chennai-Bengaluru-Chitradurga across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The study includes perspective planning for the corridor and detailed planning for selected industrial nodes.
