The double laning of Puri-Delang rail line is likely to be completed ahead of schedule i.e. before 2015.
The double laning project, worth Rs 165.16 crore, has been undertaken by East Central Railway and is estimated to be completed before March 2015.
Also, a new bi-weekly express train between Puri and Ajmer, which will run via Angul, Sambalpur, Titlagarh, Raipur, Nagpur and Abu Road was inaugurated on 22 December 2013, by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Union Minister of State for Railways.
A new bi-weekly express train between Puri and Ajmer will help to connect the eastern part with the western part and will also facilitate pilgrims to reach the Dargah of the Sufi Saint, Moinuddin Chisti.
