A Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) high level team of officials will be visiting Beijing on 24 November for the Delhi-Chennai bullet train project.
This will help to complete the formalities with their Chinese counterparts for a high-speed corridor project feasibility study.
The 1,754 km long Delhi-Chennai route will be the longest in India and will be jointly developed with China. It is estimated that the high speed railway line will cost Rs 120 to 126 crore. A normal railway route construction cost is Rs 5 crore per km.
The bullet train will reduce the travelling time between the two cities to six hours as compared to 28 hours taken by Rajdhani.
RVNL made a detailed presentation of proposed high speed train projects, including the Delhi-Chennai route, to the Railway Minister, on Thursday.
In addition, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is presently conducting a feasibility study on a 534 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed corridor project, estimated to cost Rs 63,180 crore.
