The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the final location survey for three new railway line projects in West Bengal, covering a total of 178 km.
These projects include the Siuri–Nala line via Rajnagar and Bakreshwar Dham (73 km), the Arambagh–Khanakul line (27 km), and the Rasulpur–Jangalpara line (78 km). The Siuri–Nala line will improve connectivity between Siuri and Nala, connecting key areas like Rajnagar and Bakreshwar Dham, a popular pilgrimage site. This will ease the current dependency on road transport. The Arambagh–Khanakul line, expected to span 27 km, will address growing passenger demand, enhancing accessibility and promoting regional development.
The Rasulpur–Jangalpara line aims to provide a bypass route to avoid engine reversal and improve efficiency, while enhancing connectivity and relieving pressure on longer routes. This new line will facilitate easier transport of passengers and light freight, reducing congestion at existing junctions. This expansion aligns with efforts to strengthen rail connectivity and improve regional mobility in West Bengal.
