The Central Electricity Authority has confirmed the supply of one lakh tonne of coal for trial run of Unit-I of Rajpura thermal power plant.
The authority has asked Coal India (CIL), to supply the quantity of coal to Rajpura plant of Nabha Power, owned by L&T Power Development. The company is setting up a 1,400 MW (2x700 MW) coal-based thermal power unit at Village Nalash near Rajpura in Patiala district of Punjab on build, own and operate (BOO) basis. The project, spread over 2,000 acre is expected to be commissioned in January 2014.
As a part of this, the Union Power Ministry issued a notification asking Coal India to sign fuel supply agreements to include the 660 MW Unit-I of Talwandi Sabo thermal power project and 700 MW Unit-I of Rajpura thermal power project for FY14, besides Talwandi Sabo TPP Unit-II and III and Rajpura TPP Unit-II for 2014-15.
Earlier, the Ministry of Power had not included fuel linkage and signing of FSA for Talwandi Sabo Unit-II and III and Rajpura Unit-II in the year 2014-15, and had pushed them to 2015-16.
