The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has opened the 3.5 km long Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) on 18 April, 2014 for traffic.
Along with the SCLR, MMRDA has also opened the 527mtr long double-decker Amar Mahal flyover at Kurla (LBS marg), which connects SCLR to Eastern Express Highway.
The SCLR project involved construction of road which links Western Express Highway (WEH) and Eastern Express Highway (EEH).
The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road provides three lanes each for up and down traffic.The upper and the lower levels of the flyover provide two lanes each for up and down traffic.
This road project was implemented in two phases. Phase-I of the project comprise of Mithi River to EEH , which was implemented by MSRDC, whereas Phase II starts from the junction of WEH to Hansburga Road and then meets at Mithi river having a length of 3.00 km, which was undertaken by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
The project was undertaken at a cost of Rs 435 crore.
