The state government has given approval to the modernization plan for the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Maharashtra.
The modernization plan of CSIA is estimated to cost of Rs 10,000 crore and includes the development of terminals, airside and part of landside.
The project is being implemented by Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) - a Special Purpose Vehicle involving GVK Industries Airport Company of South Africa and Airports Authority of India and it will be developed in a phased manner.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had appointed HDIL to construct flats for the rehabilitation of the slum dwellers and it will now have to decide who will build the flats as the airport developer cancelled its agreement with HDIL last week.
Recently, HDIL had received a termination notice from MIAL for its slum rehabilitation project citing non-completion of the project on time
.
Work on south-west pier is likely to complete by end-2013.
