The Steering Committee on Clusters (SCC), constituted by Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Union government, has given its in-principle approval for two electronic manufacturing clusters (EMC), proposed to be set up in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
The first greenfield electronic cluster 'eCity' (Fab City), will spread across 602.37 acre of land and it will be set up with an estimated cost of Rs 580 crore. The SCC has approved a grant of Rs 235.6 crore for the establishment of the proposed cluster. The eCity will have a special economic zone (SEZ) on 263 acre.
The SCC is also providing a grant of Rs 142.5 crore to the second EMC at Maheshwaram, which is proposed to be set up at a cost of Rs 360 crore.
Meanwhile, the third EMC is proposed to be established at Parwada in Visakhapatnam in an area of 100 acre, at an estimated cost Rs 100 crore. The proposal for the same is still under the consideration of the Union government.
