The Tamil Nadu Government has proposed to develop an integrated satellite township on the outskirts of Madurai.
The project will come up over 586.86 acre of Tamil Nadu Housing Board in Thoppur and Uchappati villages on the Madurai-Tirunelveli highway.
The township project envisages the development of 19,500 plots. Of these, 14,300 will be provided to people in the low-income group category, 2,500 to middle-income group, and 750 to upper income group. The government will also allot 1,950 plots to people belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore to develop basic facilities, including road, water, sewerage and lighting in the township.
