Tata Power will soon increase its overall power generation capacity through its eight power projects, which are under execution in India and abroad.
The company will increase its overall generation capacity by 849.2 MW through its eight power projects in solar, wind, hydro and one gas-based project which are still in the execution stage.
At present, the company has a gross generation capacity of 8,560 MW of which 7,647 MW is being generated from thermal, and 912 MW from renewable energy sources.
In the solar energy segment, the company has set up a 25 MW plant at Palaswadi, Maharashtra, which is in the execution stage. Tata Power has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years with Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) for supply of the power to be generated.
The company has also signed a PPA with TPREL in the wind-based segment for supply of 81.5 MW, which is under execution. Also, Tata Power, through its JV company, Cennergi, is setting up two wind power projects of 94.8 MW and 134.4 MW capacity in South Africa. Both the projects undertaken by Cennergi have long term contracts to supply power to the local utility in Africa.
Dagachhu hydroelectric power project, with an installed capacity of 126 MW, is being developed in Bhutan. Tata Power has a 26 per cent stake in the project.
