In a landmark step towards bolstering India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, Optiemus Infracom inaugurated the nation’s first tempered glass manufacturing plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, powered by Engineered by Corning technology from Corning Inc..
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, I&B, and Railways, marking a defining milestone for India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem. With an initial investment of Rs 70 crore, Phase-1 of the plant will produce 25 million units annually, generating over 600 direct jobs. Phase-2 will see capacity expansion to 200 million units per year with an additional Rs 800 crore investment, creating more than 4,500 employment opportunities.
India’s electronics production reached Rs 11.70 lakh crore in FY24-25, positioning the nation as the second-largest mobile manufacturer globally. Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Vaishnaw stated, “This facility is a testament to India’s growing capabilities in advanced manufacturing and innovation.”
