Jindal India Thermal Power's (JITPL) Unit I of 1,200-MW (2x600) thermal power
plant at Derang, near Angul in Orissa is likely to be commissioned by 2012.
Land acquisition for the project has already been completed. It has received
permission from the Department of Water Resources, Orissa, for allotment of 40
cusecs of water from river Brahmani.
While the construction activities of the boundary wall and ground leveling
are currently underway, the technical investigations like soil testing have been
completed.
