Vedanta Aluminium has witnessed a boost in its annual alumina refining capacity to 3.5 million tonne at its Lanjigarh unit in Odisha, against the earlier capacity of two MTPA.
It plans to further increase alumina refining capacity to five MTPA, besides increasing aluminium production capacity to three MTPA from the current 2.37 MTPA. This expansion aims to enhance raw material security and reduce costs for the Jharsuguda and BALCO aluminium smelters.
It is a significant step towards 100 percent vertical integration, and would aptly position the company for sustainable growth in the global aluminium market.
