Jacob Circle-Wadala-Chembur Monorail project Phase-I, stretching from Wadala to Chembur has obtained the safety clearance certificate from the retired commissioner of railway safety (CRS) in Mumbai.
The project, undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), received the clearance document from the CRS for Phase-I, on 20 January 2014.
MMRDA will now approach the Maharashtra government in order to finalize the date to commence commercial operations.
The total cost of the 20 km Jacob Circle-Wadala-Chembur Monorail project is Rs 3,000 crore.
The project will be executed in two phases. Phase-I, stretching 8.26 km from Wadala-Chembur comprises seven stations, which are Wadala Depot station, Bhakti Park, Mysore Colony, Bharat Petroleum, Fertilizer Township, VNP and RC Marg, and Chembur.
