Welspun Solar AP subsidiary of Welspun Energy has commissioned solar power project near Phalodi at Jodhpur district of Rajasthan.
The company has developed 50 MW plant in three phases. It had already commissioned phase I with 15 MW unit in January 2013, has now commissioned phase II with 15 MW unit and phase III with 20 MW unit before schedule. The facility will generate total electricity of 90 million kWh. With the commissioning of this project, an estimated 83,220 million tonne of carbon dioxide emissions will be mitigated each year.
Welspun Solar AP, had emerged as the only successful bidder for the 50 MW capacity under Batch-2, Phase I of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
Meanwhile, the company is also setting up 750 MW of solar power and one GW of wind power plants across India.
