The government of West Bengal has approved three park projects in the state.
The three projects that received the nod are : Integrated Textile Park at Belur; Banarhat Eco Tourism Park; and Silk Park at Malda.
The proposed Integrated Textile Park will come up at National Iron & Steel Company in Belur. Initially, the project plans to comprise mega power looms in the area, but the state government decided to accommodate handlooms and dying units on the premises. The park is expected to entail an investment of Rs 1,400 crore.
For the Eco Tourism Park at Banarhat in Jalpaiguri district, the state government has already floated a global tender. Apart from star category resorts, the project, spread over 100 acre, will house budget hotels, craft villages, convention centres and a youth hostel. The project, worth Rs 300 crore, is expected to be commissioned by 2015.
Further, the West Bengal government has put Silk Park project in Malda on the fast tack. The project is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore.
