Water & Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) has submitted the techno-economic feasibility report for augmenting the proposed riverine port in Orissa.
In December 2013, the company inked an agreement with the government of Orissa, to provide consultancy work on the riverine port planned at the Mahanadi river mouth.
At present, the state government is examining the report. It will conduct the tendering process at the end of the 'Model Code of Conduct' enforced for the ongoing elections.
The overall port capacity has been pegged at 55 million tpa, including 22 million tpa in Phase-I. The total investment for the port has been estimated at Rs 4,000 crore. The port has been envisioned as a common user port for different industries.
The Planning Commission will prepare the model concession agreement and also other documents like Request for Proposal (RfP) and Request for Qualification (RfQ) for the project.
