GMR Infrastructure is likely to submit its bid for privatisation of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, whenever the bid opens.
The tender process for the project has been put on the back burner, on the recommendations of the Election Commission. The developer, Airports Authority of India (AAI), has deferred the date of submission of bids till the election process is over.
The project involves modernisation of the airport on operate, manage, and transfer basis, through public-private partnership (PPP) mode, at an investment of Rs 700 crore.
The airport project involves construction of a domestic terminal building, strengthening and grade correction of runway, and construction of operational wall towards cantonment area, relocation of existing MET office, and construction of the remaining portion of parallel taxiway etc.
