The proposal for the Haldia Dock-II (South and North) project in West Bengal has been approved by the Central Government.

The project is located at Salukhali in East Midnapore district in West Bengal. It is being implemented by Kolkata Port Trust.

The Haldia Dock II project has already been approved by the Union Cabinet during November 2012. The Rs 1,700-crore proposed Dock-II complex is developed under PPP mode. Of which, Rs 888 crore will be utlised in Haldia Dock-II (South) project while the remaining Rs 822 crore will be utilised in Haldia Dock-II (North) project. Earlier, the Government of West Bengal handed over nearly 160 acre for the proposed facility. Lack of cargo coupled with alleged law and order problems had forced ABG-LDA run Haldia Bulk Terminals (HBT) to withdraw operations from existing Haldia dock complex in October 2012.
