BHEL received two orders from Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) for IB Valley power project which is located at Banherpali in Jharsuguda district of state.
BHEL has received cumulative orders worth Rs 4,051 crore. Of this, one order worth Rs 3,748.94 crore has been bagged for supply of the main plant package consisting of boiler, turbine and generator at an all inclusive firms. Another order worth Rs 302.06 crore has been bagged for erection of the main plant. The design and engineering of the equipment will take six months after which actual construction will commence. OPGC has already received all statutory clearances, therefore it is expecting that there should not be any delay in starting the project.
IB Valley power project is part of expansion plan of OPGC. OPGC is a 51:49 JV between the Orissa Government and US-based AES Corporation. The 1,320 MW project involves two supercritical units, each of 660 MW, being taken up at a cost of Rs 11,547 crore. The expansion plan is expected to be commissioned by March 2017.
