A consortium of Concast Infratech and Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company has bagged a contract for the northern complex.
As per the contract, the consortium will follow the BOT model to build Haldia Dock-II (North) at an estimated cost of Rs 821.4 crore. It has been received from Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT).
Meanwhile, the Centre has also cleared a proposal for a concessionaire agreement between KoPT and the Tatas for a captive berth outside the HDC confines. The agreement is likely to be signed in October 2013.
The berth can handle a million tonne of cargo annually. KoPT has been assured that the berth will handle at least 0.7 million tpa of cargo.
The facility will have the capacity to handle 11.7 million tpa. Construction of the port facility is expected to be completed by 2016-17.
