On 2 March 2014, Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project at Greater Noida, in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
The foundation stone was laid for the Integrated Industrial Township coming up under the DMIC project.
Besides, a shareholders' agreement was signed between the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and the DMIC Development Corporation (DMICDC) for development of the integrated township.
Two development regions i.e. Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment region, and the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar Industrial area - have been envisaged in Uttar Pradesh on the 1,483 km DMIC.
The Integrated Industrial Township at Greater Noida; Multi-modal Transport Hub at Bodaki; and the Multi-modal Logistics Hub at Dadri have been proposed under this project.
More than 12 percent of the DMIC's influence area, measuring 36,068 sq km, lies across 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The projects under the DMIC in Uttar Pradesh are likely to be completed by 2017.
