GE Energy Financial Services, an arm of American major, General Electric, will soon invest $24 million (approx Rs 146.6 crore) in a solar power project in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh.
The company will invest in a 151 (DC) MW solar photovoltaic power project in Neemuch, built by Welspun Renewables Energy (WREPL).
With this deal, GE Energy Financial Services has made cumulative investments of over $10 billion (approx Rs 61,110 crore) in renewable energy worldwide, including $1.8 billion (approx Rs 10,999.8 crore) in solar power commitments in seven countries.
The solar power project, spread across 800 acre in Neemuch, is part of WREPL's 308 (DC) MW operational solar portfolio.
In August 2013, the Neemuch solar photovoltaic power project commenced commercial operations.
The initial funding of Rs 880 crore for the project was secured through a consortium of leading financial institutions.
