Intex Technologies is planning to invest Rs 500 crore in setting up a smartphone manufacturing unit in India.
The new smartphone plant will be designed to manufacture mobile phones in the initial stage and later other electronic products.
The company is having a dialogue with three state governments - Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to finalise the location for the plant. Intex will take the final decision, based on the incentives offered by the respective states.
Intex Technologies already has three manufacturing plants in Jammu and Himachal Pradesh. It is manufacturing electronic goods such as chargers, mobile batteries, speakers and phone panel covers, in these existing plants. Last year, the company’s turnover was more than Rs 2,000 crore and it expects to accomplish Rs 3,500 crore turnover this year.
