Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged two EPC orders for $480 million (approx Rs 2,834.4 crore) for setting up dual fuel-fired gas-based combined cycle power plants in Bangladesh.
The company has bagged the first order for $280 million (approx Rs 1,653.4 crore) from Marubeni Corporation, Japan, for setting up the 360 MW Bheramara Combined Cycle Power Plant project of North West Power Generation Company (NWPGCL) in Bangladesh.
At present, NWPGCL, a fully owned enterprise of Bangladesh Power Development Board, is developing about 750 MW of the gas-based power plant in the north western region of Bangladesh and has awarded the project to set up the 360 MW Bheramara, to Marubeni Corporation, which in turn has awarded the contract to L&T on a turnkey basis.
L&T has bagged the second order for $200 million (approx Rs 1,181 crore) from Bangladesh Power Development Board for setting up a 225 MW Sikalbaha Combined Cycle Power Plant near port city of Chittagong, in Bangladesh.
L&T’s scope of work includes design, detailed engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of complete power plants on a turnkey basis.
L&T Sargent and Lundy, a subsidiary of L&T, will carry out the plant integration and detailed engineering, using propriety technology of Sargent & Lundy LLC, USA.
