The Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) have signed an MoU to set up exclusive industrial park for Japanese companies in Maharashtra.
The project will come up over 1,200 acre at the Supa Parner industrial estate in Ahmednagar.
As many as 27 companies have evinced interest in establishing a base at project site, and a special cell will be established to process and expedite the applications. Land acquisition for the project is underway and is expected to take six months.
JETRO is the official promotion body for trade and investment with Japan and has 73 offices all around the world, including a network in India spanning four cities - New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.
