On 4 March 2014, Mahindra Group Company's defence division -- Mahindra Defence Naval Systems (MDNS) inaugurated a new underwater systems and naval applications manufacturing unit at Chakan, in Pune.
The company has received an order worth Rs 100 crore from the Indian Navy, which has to be delivered in two years.
The newly inaugurated facility will support Mahindra Defence Systems' naval defence business. Also, the group has a Land and Radar Systems business functioning from Prithia near Faridabad. Mahindra Defence Naval Systems is a subsidiary of Mahindra Defence Systems.
MDNS will manufacture navy products which include sea mines, missile containers, Underwater Autonomous Vehicles and Torpedo components.
Besides, the company is also looking forward to manufacturing other products for the navy which involve mine saddles for submarines and a new torpedo defence system.
