The Chief Minister of Goa has announced that the developer for the new greenfield airport at Mopa will be selected by February 2016.
The airport will be developed in four phases. Construction work is expected to begin by September 2016 and the first phase of airport project will be completed in 36 months. The airport will have a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility apart from an aviation institute.
The first phase will handle 4.4 million passengers annually and the number will increase to over 13 million passengers annually by the time the fourth phase is completed.
Five entities, including the Airports Authority of India, GVK, GMR, Essel Infra that have been shortlisted, will be asked to give their Request for Proposal (RfP) by the end of October.
