MRF, the Chennai-based tyre manufacturer, is looking forward to expanding the manufacturing capacities at its Hyderabad plant and Tiruchirappalli plant in Tamil Nadu.

The company is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore in FY 2014, for expanding the capacities of the above plants (all segment tyres).

Also, MRF is setting up a major dynamometer testing facility at its Medak unit located near Hyderabad, with an outlay of Rs 100 crore, to validate various kinds of testing. This facility is likely to be functional by 2015.

Apart from this, the company has received an order from the Indian Air Force (IAF), to supply main wheel tyres for the Sukhoi-30 MKI range of aircraft.

MRF has already begun the supply of main wheel tyres to Sukhoi. These tyres are manufactured under the brand name 'Aeromuscle', at its facility in Medak.

The Chennai-based company received the order for the Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2008.

At present, the company is executing the order which it had received from IAF in the year 2013. About 50 per cent of the substantial order is being implemented by the company and the balance 50 per cent is under progress.
