The much delayed MRO (maintenance, overhaul and repair) facility at the Mihan SEZ in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is likely to be operational by December 2013.
The facility is being jointly set up by Air India and US aircraft major, Boeing, with an investment of US$ 100 million (approx Rs 665.7 crore). It is spread across over 50 acre of land. Civil work on the project is completed and now the installation of electronic equipment is in progress and will be completed in the next couple of months.
The most modern MRO facilities in the sub-continent will service aircraft such as B-737s, B-777s and dreamliner B-787 of both, domestic as well as international carriers.
The facility will have two wide-body hangars and a GE90/GENX engine overhaul shop.
