Nine firms have pre-qualified for civil work on the Colaba-Bandra Seepz line or Metro Line 3 of Mumbai metro rail project.
The pre-qualified applicants are: AFCONS Infrastructure and Kyivmetrobud; Continental Engineering Corporation, ITD Cementation India and Tata Projects; DOGUS and SOMA; IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company and China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co; J Kumar Infraprojects and China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group; Larsen & Toubro and Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co; OSJC Moscow Metrostroy and Hindustan Construction Company; Pratibha Industries and Guandong Yuantian Engineering Co; Unity Infraprojects, IVRCL and China Railway Tunnel Group Co.
These civil contractors have generally fulfilled the specified criteria in section III of the PQ document and are considered pre-qualified for the metro project.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had invited RfQs for the 33.5 km metro line, estimated to cost Rs 23,136 crore, in September 2013. However, the last date for submission of bids was extended on five occasions and ultimately to 10 March, 2014. Following this, as many as 14 firms had submitted pre-qualification bids for construction of the underground metro rail.
The foundation stone for the Colaba-Seepz underground metro corridor was laid recently on 27 August, 2014.
