Reliance Jio Infocomm has inked a tower sharing agreement with Ascend Telecom Infrastructure.
As per the deal, Reliance Jio will share 4,500 towers of Ascend Telecom to roll out high speed data and voice services faster, at a lower cost across India.
Ascend Telecom is backed by New Silk Route Growth Capital, IL&FS and the TVS Group.
Reliance Jio plans to lease around 70,000 towers and put up 30,000 of its own, including smaller cell sites on single poles, as it intends to launch 4G voice and data services in the October-December quarter of FY15.
Earlier, Reliance Jio Infocomm had signed tower sharing agreements with Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Viom Network, American Tower Company (ATC), and Tower Vision, to utilise their infrastructure.
