The Road Ministry is planning to break the Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad road project into two or more projects of smaller sizes.
The Ministry will split the 555 km road project and rebid them separately to make them a viable proposition. The project is the largest road sector project in its current form but it ran into difficulties as the concessionaire, GMR Infrastructure, pulled out last year citing lack of environmental clearances.
The ministry will divide the project into two phases. One stretch will be of 300 km, connecting Kishangarh to Udaipur, and the other will be of 255 km, linking Udaipur with Ahmedabad.
The project, being promoted by NHAI, is estimated to cost Rs 7,500 crore.
