Saraf Agencies (SAPL) has set a new timeline for commencement of production in Phase-I of its integrated titanium complex, Chhatrapur, in Ganjam district of Odisha, by December 2014.
Earlier, the company had targeted to commence production at the plant, by May 2014. The unit, estimated to cost Rs 2,000 crore, was delayed due to the devastating cyclone Phailin that struck the state’s southern coast in October 2013.
Phase-I of the project envisages to produce around 18,000 tonne of high titanium slag per annum. The company will invest Rs 250 crore in Phase-I and has committed a total investment of Rs 2,000 crore in the next three to four years to complete the plant to produce titanium dioxide and high purity pig iron and to develop the SEZ.
Saraf Agencies has all clearances in hand and has also acquired 230 acre for the project.
