Sistema Shyam Teleservices, the Indian telecommunications arm of the Russian conglomerate, Sistema JSFC, has received additional spectrum of 1.25 MHz from the government.
Through this additional spectrum, the company will offer very high speed data services in eight circles. The government has issued the third carrier in the 800 MHz spectrum band to the company. Sistema Shyam Teleservices is further looking to acquire at least five MHz of contiguous spectrum within the 800 MHz spectrum band.
In the March 2013 spectrum auctions, Sistema Shyam Teleservices won three carriers of 1.25 Mhz each in eight circles of Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh (West) and West Bengal.
In addition to this, the company already has three carriers of spectrum within the 800 MHz band in its Rajasthan circle and already provides Rev B, Phase-II data services, with speeds upto 10 Mbps, within the same circle.
