SunEdison has relinquished its plan to set up a solar power project in India, due to shortage of equipment.
The company intended to set up a 20 MW solar plant that it had secured in the government auction in February 2014, but has given up the plan due to concerns that local cell makers won't be able to boost supply in time.
The project may cost the company its Rs two crore bidding deposit.
SunEdison was one of the winners in the 21 February 2014 auction, which awarded 375 MW of photovoltaic capacity to be built, using India-made equipment. The company still plans to build the separate 30 MW project it has won.
