The Central Railway (CR) will commission three new foot-over-bridges (FoBs) at Badlapur, Ambarnath and Vidyavihar station by the end of January 2014.
Also, two FoBs will be commissioned at Chunabhatti and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) by March 2014.
The 140 mtr long FoB at CST will connect platform No 7 and 18, thereby giving easy access to passengers from the local platform to platform 18 from where outstation trains leave.
Recently, the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) received Rs 120 crore financial assistance from the World Bank to build more FoBs, as well as to build reinforced cement concrete (RCC) walls parallel to the tracks so as to discourage commuters from walking on the railway tracks.
The work of building FoBs and parallel walls at Dadar, Kurla, Kanjurmarg, Thane, Thakurli, and Kalyan on the CR will be undertaken by the MRVC.
