World Bank has sanctioned Rs 1,376 crore to create infrastructure in the power transmission and distribution sector in Tripura.
World Bank and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) will ink an agreement on 13 March, 2015.
In the 'North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project' for Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland, World Bank has altogether granted Rs 8,150 crore. The project will be operational this year itself.
Under this project, the power transmission and distribution and transmission substations will be modernised.
