KMP Expressways, an SPV floated by DS
Constructions, UK-based Apollo Enterprises and Hyderabad-based Madhucon Projects
bagged an order worth Rs.1,800 crore from Haryana State Industrial Development
Corporation (HASIDIC) for the construction of 135-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal
expressway project on BOT basis.
Also known as Western peripheral
expressway project, the new expressway will intersect National Highways (NH)-1
near Kundli (Sonipat), NH-10 near Bahadurgarh, NH-8 at Manesar (Gurgaon) and
NH-2 near Palwal (Faridabad).
Work on the project is likely to
commence by February 2006 with completion scheduled for August 2009. When
completed it will also provide faster access to the international and domestic
airports at Delhi for cities in Haryana. The concession period for the project
is 23 years and 9 months.
The new expressway will not only
improve connectivity with the National Capital, but will also facilitate in
developing a new economic corridor for India. It will provide high-speed
connectivity to Northern Haryana with its Southern districts such as Sonipat,
Jhajjar, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
