The GMR International Airport promoted Rajiv Gandhi International Airport,
Hyderabad has chalked out a plan to consolidate its business and establish an
international trans-shipment cargo hub.
The cargo hub entailing an investment of Rs.100 crore will come in a 250 acre
multi-product SEZ. GMR officials stated that the company's focus will be on
developing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, passenger flow and
infrastructure for aerotropolis.
The company officials also stated that the recently developed air cargo
complex is likely to handle around 50,000 tonne of domestic as well as
international cargo and the airport is expected to handle around 6.4 million
passengers during the current fiscal.
