Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO), will commission its Krishnapatnam coal-based power plant by 2014.
The project, with 2 x 800 MW capacity, is estimated to cost Rs 8,340 crore. The Krishnapatnam power plant, based on supercritical boiler technology, coming up in Nellore district, will be ready by January 2014. It will be established on 1,230 acre.
APGENCO will also commission the expansion of Kakatiya coal-based power project with 600 MW capacity at Bhoopalapally in Warrangal district of Andhra Pradesh before March 2014. The project is estimated to cost Rs 2,968.64 crore. In June 2013, the Union Ministry of Coal allocated the Sarapal-Nuapara coal block in Talcher Coalfield for the project.
