Adani Cement has achieved a milestone by reaching a production capacity of 100 million tonne (MT), a feat Adani Group chairperson Gautam Adani hailed as having been accomplished at a "world-record pace".
Adani Cement, part of the larger Adani Group conglomerate with interests spanning energy, infrastructure, and finance, includes leading cement players such as Ambuja Cements and ACC. The company’s rapid capacity expansion positions it among the top cement producers in India and globally.
Previously, Ambuja Cements, together with its subsidiaries, operated with a total capacity of 89 MTPA through 22 integrated cement plants and 21 grinding units, supported by over 86 ready-mix concrete plants and more than 1,00,000 channel partners nationwide. The company has been recognised as a sustainability leader, producing more than 85 percent blended cement, maintaining an 11x water positive status.
Further strengthening its green credentials, Ambuja Cements has committed to sourcing 60 percent of its power needs from renewable energy. Notably, it is the world’s first cement manufacturer to join the Alliance for Industrial Decarbonization (AFID), an initiative led by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to accelerate the global shift to net-zero emissions.
