Adani Enterprises (AEL) has rolled out India’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck in Raipur, marking a pioneering step in sustainable cargo transport. Developed in collaboration with Indian and international energy tech firms and a major auto manufacturer, the truck can carry up to 40 tonne of cargo over a 200-km range using three hydrogen tanks.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who flagged off the truck, said, “The launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered truck in Chhattisgarh reflects the state’s commitment to sustainability. Such initiatives will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and set a new standard for industry.” This initiative is part of Adani’s broader push for decarbonisation.
The truck will be deployed to transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a state-run power plant, operated under Adani’s appointment as the mine developer through a competitive bidding process by the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company. The effort is led by Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries (ANIL), with hydrogen cells sourced internally. ANIL also handles green hydrogen, solar modules, wind turbines, and battery production.
In parallel, GreenLine Mobility Solutions, part of the Essar Group expanded its fleet with support from Shriram Finance. The new LNG-powered fleet was flagged off at Chakan, Pune. With over 650 trucks already covering 40 million km and saving over 10,000 tonne of CO2 emissions, GreenLine aims to scale to 10,000 LNG and EV trucks nationwide, supported by 100 fuelling and charging stations.
