Alstom has bagged order worth 125 million pound (approx Rs 1,275 crore) from BHEL to supply components and services for 2X500 MW Neyveli New Thermal Power Project at Neyveli in Tamil Nadu.
The scope of work includes conceptualising, designing, engineering and supplying two tower boilers and the complete lignite milling and firing equipment, and critical components, which will be engineered and manufactured in Alstom's factory in Stuttgart (Germany) as well as in Durgapur and Shahabad (India).
Neyveli New thermal power project having capacity of 1,000 MW is developed by Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLCL) will be first lignite-fired 2X500 MW power plant in India and a major source of power to the southern states.
