Aravali Power Company started commercial operation of Unit III of its Indira Gandhi Superthermal Power Project (IGSTPP) at Jhajjar in Haryana.
Aravali Power has started commercial operation of 500 MW Unit III of IGSTPP project which was commissioned in November 2012. Aravali Power is a JV company of NTPC, Haryana Power Generation Corporation & Indraprastha Power Generation Co. In the JV company, NTPC has 50 per cent equity share, while Haryana and Delhi Government has 25 per cent share each in the project. The company has developed 1,500 MW coal based power plant under three units at Jhajjar with an estimated investment of Rs 7,892.42 crore.
The stage I with the capacity of 1,500 MW (3x500 MW) of the project is expected to be dedicated to the nation soon. Aravali Power has already commenced commercial operation of unit I in 2010 and of unit II in 2011. There is also provision for having 2x660 MW units under stage II of the project.
