Avantha Power and Infrastructure, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Korba West Power Company, has synchronised Unit-I of its coal-based power unit at villages Bade Bhandar, Chote Bhandar, Sarvani and Amali Bhona in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
Unit-I of the project has 600 MW capacity. The company had started work on the unit in 2010 and executed the project in 38 months. BHEL supplied the boiler, turbine and generator equipment for the project. In August 2013, Korba West Power Company inked the fuel supply agreement (FSA) with South Eastern Coal, for feeding the plant with uninterrupted coal supply.
With the commissioning of the unit, the generation capacity of the company stands at 626.19 MW.
Besides, the company, through its Jhabua Power, is setting up a 1,260 MW power plant at Seoni, near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The project is under various stages of construction.
